On September 21, 2025, International Day of Peace, a world record was set in Stockholm, Sweden: “The Largest Global Orthodox Prayer for Peace in Ukraine,” simultaneously uniting Orthodox Ukrainians from different parts of the world.
In the “Mass Events” category, 1,570 Orthodox Ukrainians from 20 countries and 27 parishes participated in the joint prayer. Many joined via Zoom to unite in a single spiritual plea for Ukraine’s victory and the restoration of just peace. Parishes in other time zones joined earlier or continued throughout the day, creating a continuous global prayer circle for Ukraine.
The record recognition was awarded to:
- The Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Sweden, Chaplain Mission – as the spiritual center of the prayer and main organizer
- Olha Skulska, coordinator of the international initiative, whose efforts united Ukrainian parishes worldwide in a joint prayer
Special thanks were given to Zoryana Kiktsyo, head of the public organization “Ukrainian Women’s Organization” and director of Business Woman magazine. Her initiative made it possible to submit the record to the World Records Book, drawing attention to this globally important topic – peace. Her civic engagement, dedication, and determination to amplify Ukraine’s voice internationally ensured the event’s strong impact.
Particular gratitude was expressed to Svitlana Zalishchuk, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Sweden, who addressed participants with warm words, highlighting the importance of uniting Ukrainians and the global community for Ukraine’s victory and peace.
Special thanks were also given to Father Hennadiy Samoylenko, who led the prayer for peace, uniting all participants in sincere spiritual support for Ukraine.
The record was officially verified by Hanna Krysiuk, CEO of the World Records Book, and Yuliya Shopska, CEO of Agrol. Symbolically, they congratulated the parishioners from Lviv near the St. George Cathedral – the spiritual heart of Ukrainians worldwide.
This record became not only a significant event for the Orthodox community but also a symbol of global unity among Ukrainians, who, despite different time zones and distances, joined their hearts in a single prayer for peace for their homeland, Ukraine.
