On March 23 in Poltava, a Ukrainian national record was set: the most expensive pork fat, or “salo,” produced in Ukraine and presented abroad.
The initiative was led by Vitaliy and Marina Mostovyi, the founders of the “Zolota Sota” brand. Their artisanal product has already reached 16 countries, including Finland, the USA, Canada, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Slovakia, Georgia, Croatia, Montenegro, Portugal, England, and Italy.
The record was documented by Hanna Krysiuk, CEO of the World Record Book, and Vladyslav Nosenko, a representative of the Ombudsperson of Ukraine in Poltava region.
Ms. Krysiuk highlighted the social significance of this record, as just a month prior, the record-setting salo was delivered to the front lines for Ukrainian defenders as part of a humanitarian mission by the International Headquarters for Aid to Ukrainians. The Mostovyi family continues to provide such humanitarian support regularly, for which they received special thanks.
This initiative sets a powerful example, showing that even during wartime, it’s possible to start and grow a business, pay taxes, support Ukraine’s economic growth, provide jobs, and proudly represent Ukrainian products on the global market.
We thank these record-holders for their determination and for a high-quality product that brings joy not only to Ukrainians at home but also serves as a unique souvenir abroad.
