The Longest “Wedding Fate” Element in the “Braiding Fate” Ceremony Recorded in Lviv Region

On September 27, 2025, in the village of Krupske, Stryi district, Lviv region, at the farm “OVOCHIVNYTSTVO”, a unique Ukrainian record was set — “Creation of the longest ‘wedding fate’ element within the traditional ‘Braiding Fate’ ceremony.”

The symbolic element reached a length of 15 meters and 32 centimeters. The achievement was registered in two categories — “Size” and “First Time.”

The record was officially certified by Ivan and Nadiya Lozan, representatives of the World Records Book, who emphasized:

“It is very important when our traditions are preserved and passed down from generation to generation. Thanks to initiatives like this, we not only popularize Ukrainian culture but also instill values in our younger generation.”

The organization of this cultural and artistic event involved representatives of the local community, volunteers, cultural figures, and veterans, including:

  • Maria Morykin – head of the farm “OVOCHIVNYTSTVO” (Krupske, Stryi district, Lviv region)
  • Olha Bodnar – Head of the Cultural Heritage Sector, Stryi District Administration, Lviv Region
  • Maria Rogula – Chair of the NGO “Opillia of Stryi District”
  • Oleksandr Sikora – Director of the Tourist Information Center of Stryi District
  • Yulia Dvornikova – Chair of the NGO “Art Space KREDENS”
  • Youth Council of Stryi
  • Rostyslav Smuk – General Director of VP “NVPP Sparing-Vis Center”
  • Marta Horbey – poet, volunteer, and author of cultural diplomacy projects

The “Braiding Fate” ceremony is an ancient Ukrainian wedding tradition symbolizing unity, blessing, and the continuity of the couple’s life journey.

This new record not only entered history as an important contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage, but also became an example of community unity in reviving Ukrainian traditions at a modern level.
