On August 11, in the courtyard of the KMC “Sokil” in Yavoriv, Lviv region, a new Ukrainian record was officially set — the longest necklace painted in the traditional Yavoriv style. This event was part of the annual Yavoriv Toy and Honey Festival, which traditionally brings together locals and visitors alike.
Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to explore products from local beekeepers and enjoy performances by creative groups from Yavoriv and Novoyavoriv communities. The festival also featured workshops for all ages and creative photo zones.

The highlight of the festival was the record-setting event — a 37-meter-long necklace decorated with Yavoriv painting. It was officially recognized by the World Records Book as a new Ukrainian record. The record-setting was made possible through the joint efforts of the cultural workers of the Yavoriv community and the team of KMC “Sokil.” The award for confirming the record was presented by Iryna Havryliuk, Head of the Department of Culture, Nationalities, and Religions of the Lviv Regional State Administration.

Yavoriv painting is a traditional Ukrainian folk craft that originated in the 18th century. It is known for its vibrant colors and distinctive patterns, often featuring flowers, stars, and roses, used to decorate wooden items, particularly chests and toys, with characteristic geometric and floral motifs. In 2020, the Yavoriv toy, painted in this traditional style, was included in UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.

“This record is a result of the collective efforts and unity of our community, and we are proud of this achievement,” said Bohdan Radelytskyi, Head of the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth, and Sports of the Yavoriv City Council.
This remarkable event not only celebrated local craftsmanship but also showcased a deep commitment to preserving and promoting Ukrainian cultural traditions. We extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to this significant event!
