On April 12th, in the picturesque city of Khmelnytskyi, a new Ukrainian record was set for the Largest Number of School-Aged Children Gathered in One Place to Prepare Ukrainian Borscht.
The initiative was led by Khmelnytskyi Primary School “My Obriyi”, who set this record for the second time with the World Records Book. In the summer, they baked cookies to support the front lines, and today, they prepared Ukrainian borscht.
A total of 295 children participated in the preparation of the borscht. All 16 classes from the school took part, with tasks ranging from peeling potatoes, beets, and carrots, to chopping onions and baking the ingredients. And this is a Ukrainian record!
The record was set as part of the project “Borscht of Unity: LOVE, TRADITIONS, VICTORY!” The aim of this project was to hold a charitable event to prepare Ukrainian borscht and to unite Ukrainians worldwide in support of humanitarian aid for people living in Ukraine.
During the event, 37,000 UAH was raised for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The achievement was recorded by Alina Skomorokhova, a representative of the World Records Book in Khmelnytskyi region. She congratulated the record-holders and thanked everyone for participating in this important mission for Ukraine and Ukrainians.
It is incredibly valuable that children now understand the importance of helping our military and people living in frontline areas. However, it is also deeply saddening that they must grow up and learn during such a challenging time for all of us.
