A Ukrainian Record Set in Khmelnytskyi: A Map Made of 25 Paintings

On October 3, 2025, in Khmelnytskyi, at the Khmelnytskyi Humanitarian-Pedagogical Academy, a unique Ukrainian record was officially registered in the “First Time” category — “A map of Ukraine created from 25 paintings by artist Mykhailo Sorokin, depicting men and women in traditional costumes, executed by the academy’s students.”

The artistic record impressed with its scale: the map measured 5.5 meters in length and 8.5 meters in width, and 398 students participated in its creation.

The event was officially certified by Alina Skomorokhova, the official representative of the World Records Book in Khmelnytskyi region, who announced the establishment of the Ukrainian record.

For their support and implementation of this unique project, the following were awarded certificates from the World Records Book:

  • Violeta Labaziuk, Chair of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Council;
  • Inna Shorobura, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of Ukraine, Acting Rector of Khmelnytskyi Humanitarian-Pedagogical Academy;
  • Valentyna Hreskova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Honored Artist of Ukraine, Head of the Department of Fine, Decorative, and Applied Arts and Technologies;
  • Mykhailo Sorokin, Artist, Lecturer of the Department of Fine, Decorative, and Applied Arts and Technologies, author of the idea and paintings that formed the unique Map.

This record became not only an artistic event but also an example of the unity of creativity, youth, and Ukrainian traditions, brought to life in the symbolic Map of Ukraine.
