On August 21, during the 8th Women’s Prayer Breakfast in Kyiv, a new Ukrainian record was officially registered in the categories of “Art” and “Mass Events”: the largest mass performance of the original Ukrainian song “Ukraine is You and Me” by Ukrainians from around the world in a single music video project.
As part of this international video project dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine, 256 participants were involved across 46 performing groups and soloists (duets, trios, quartets, ensembles, bands, and choirs). The project brought together Ukrainians from 11 countries: Ukraine, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, Greece, Ireland, Great Britain, and the USA.
Hundreds of participants shared their voices and warmth, including students from art schools and leading universities, theater soloists, children’s and women’s vocal ensembles, church choirs, and creative groups from the Ukrainian diaspora abroad.
The authors and inspirations behind this project were Lesia Korolyk (Ambassador of Ukrainian Culture and Art, Peace Ambassador, and Ambassador of Ukrainian Song in the World), Yurii Pizhuk (writer, lyricist, and head of the Trade Union of Public Service Employees of Ukraine), and Rostyslav Halahan (composer). The video production was created by video editor Oleh Tkachuk.
The official registration of the record for the largest mass performance, confirming the final number of participants and video duration, was conducted by Hanna Krysiuk, Founder and CEO of the Book of World Records. People’s Artist of Ukraine Oksana Bilozir also congratulated the record-holders.
This project served as a powerful example of cultural diplomacy, proving that wherever Ukrainians are, our connection to our homeland and our unity remain unbreakable!
