1,000 Meters of Burpees in Tactical Gear: Lieutenant Colonel Mykola Bohovyk Sets a Record of Ukraine

On Ukraine’s Independence Day, a record in an exceptionally demanding endurance discipline was set in Lviv. The author of the achievement was Lieutenant Colonel Mykola Bohovyk, Senior Instructor at the Physical Education and Sports Department of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy and a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian War.

The serviceman covered a distance of 1,000 meters by performing burpees while wearing a military uniform and tactical gear—specifically a plate carrier weighing 7.5 kg.

His final time was 36 minutes and 30 seconds, achieved after more than a year of exhausting daily training.

“When things get tough for me, I remember the people who have it even harder. First and foremost, this record is for them—for those in the trenches protecting our country. I know firsthand that it isn’t easy, so this is for them,” noted Mykola Bohovyk.

The achievement in the “Sports” category was officially verified by representatives of “The Book of World Records,” Ivan Lozan and Nadiia Lozan, together with a panel of experts: Maksym Babych, Dmytro Kurochkin, and Oleksandr Lytvyn.

The defender was solemnly presented with a certificate from “The Book of World Records.” The Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy emphasized that setting such sports records on the eve of Independence Day has every chance of becoming an annual tradition.
